With Self-Compassion we can access a sense of a loving, connected and supportive presence. Comforting and soothing practices are teaching us how to be with ourselves in a gentle and tender way, which helps us to gain inner strength. Fierce Compassion enables us to see a situation with clarity, giving us the courage to act skillfully and effectively in the world, for example by setting healthy boundaries and standing up for ourselves and others. Research has shown that self-compassion greatly enhances emotional wellbeing. It boosts happiness, reduces anxiety and depression, and can even help maintain healthy lifestyle habits. In this experience-based workshop we will explore both tender and fierce aspects of Self-Compassion and offer you theory and practices; activities include meditation, short talks, exercises and group discussion.
In this workshop you will learn…
- how to comfort, soothe and validate yourself with Tender Compassion
- how to protect, provide and motivate yourself with Fierce Compassion
- how to take a Self-Compassionate Break from a challenging situation
- Mindfulness and Self-Compassion practices for everyday life.
Prerequisites for participation
The workshop is for anyone who would like to learn about Self-Compassion and for people who want to deepen their own practice. No previous knowledge or meditation practice is required.
To benefit from this workshop and to promote a safe space for participants, the workshop has to be attended in total and it’s not possible to join only for one day.

Anja Benesch and Wiebke Pausch have been teaching MSC trainings and Workshops together in Berlin and online since 2016.
About Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)
This workshop is based on the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program which was developed by Kristin Neff, a pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion (Self-Compassion.org) and Christopher Germer, PhD, a clinical psychologist in private practice in Arlington, Massachusetts. Dr. Neff will publish her new book „Fierce Self-Compassion – How Women Can Harness Kindness to Speak Up, Claim Their Power, and Thrive“ in June 2021.
